David worked whilst pursuing his art and had a website set up in the early noughties, studying at night school in is forties for his City and Guilds Further Education Teaching Certificate, at Scarborough College, he was then qualified to teach FE students. He was teaching students part time from home for a number of years and then went into his art professionally in 2010. He started to work full time and went into his gallery in the same year. The Gallery was a success from day 1 and was situated in the North Yorkshire village of Hutton-Le-Hole.
David very sadly became ill and died in the early part of 2012, so although he wasn’t in the gallery for a long time, he did live his lifetime’s dream of having his own workshop/gallery and has left a great legacy. As his widow, I am now selling copies of his paintings and drawings in print to keep the vision that he had going into the future.
In David’s own words:
"In art, my first love are pencil drawings, but I am at home with any art medium and enjoy producing landscape watercolour paintings, acrylic paintings, oil paintings and more recently reproduction oil paintings. Born in the industrial north of England I attended the prestigious Barnsley School of Art in the mid-seventies. Since then I've spent time trying to make a living from portrait drawings, commission drawings from photos and paintings. I've also worked as a freelance sculptor for the souvenir and gift trade, a military model maker and a fine art artist, selling work in England, Europe and the USA. Private watercolour painting lessons painting holiday courses & tuition, step by step watercolour painting DVDs also watercolour painting and pencil drawing mentor programmes are available through this site. I am a qualified art teacher situated in Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire, UK. David attended Barnsley School of Art then went onto Art College in Surrey, finishing at Granville College, Sheffield."
Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction and for looking at David’s art, that over the years, as his family and friends, we have come to know and love so well.
