| Private Lessons, Watercolour Painting Course Hi David, Just a line or two to say thanks for a great weekend. The two days top up watercolour were a great help and I have framed and hung the first painting we did already. The new studio gallery is a great place to work and it made a hell of a difference learning in an art environment surrounded by pictures. I wish you every success with the new venture. Dear David! Just a few days ago I received my watercolour-DVDs \"Breakwater\" and \"Winter cottages\". I already have watched them and I like them very much - they are a great help for me. You explain really very well and it\'s a pleasure to watch you painting and listen to your explanations. Till now I have painted only from photos. But you have encouraged me - and yesterday I went to my art store and bought a sketchbook and I will handle that in the way you have recommended on the DVD. It will be no surprise to I hope that the drawing went down an absolute storm. Everyone that's seen it and knows the dogs is amazed with how accurately you've captured them. Particularly impressive given that you never met them yourself. I got it double mounted with black in white and had a stunning frame made up which really sets it off a treat. | Private Lessons, Watercolour Painting Course Hello David, The two days concentration on watercolour painting have been both beneficial and inspiring. Your way of guiding through the materials, equipment and techniques of watercolour painting were exactly what I needed to get me restarted. It was GREAT!! Thank you too for explaining the aspects which I found I had problems with, such as how to avoid painting trees which looked petrified! The mini-tutorial and demonstration of painting figures within a scene was excellent. I have recommended your courses to a couple of my fellow stewards at Nostell, who are also amateur artists. I am going to take my painting kit with me when we go to Cornwall, I shall send you some results when we return. Prepare to be amazed! In what way remains to be seen! David, Painting arrived today. It is quite beautiful. The image quality disclaimer on your website is certainly accurate - the painting is far superior than the representation on the site. It is a birthday present for my brother who will be 40 in early August and I'm sure he will be thrilled with it. I'm so pleased in fact I may treat myself to a painting - I've only ever brought limited edition prints before and I now see that there really is nothing quite like the real thing. Thank you again. Sue and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in Yorkshire, the tuition, the countryside the pubs all were excellent. I have returned with lots of enthusiasm to paint and am looking forward to many an hour shutting out the outside world and just immersing myself in my paints and subject! I am going to master trees and am lucky enough to have discovered your two trees on the back of your cloud picture .... lucky me! Thanks again for your patience and excellent coaching. Within four hours of ordering, there it was, hanging on the wall. There's service! We were stunned. 'The Lane' is more beautiful than we could have imagined. For us it lives and breathes; in daylight the cool morning sun struggles through the coppice to reach the wet ground, with the picture light on, the warm afternoon sun tempts one to skip down the lane to the beckoning clearing, where the foliage is bright and welcoming. We shall live in its moods, with joy, each and every day. We must also thank Charlotte for the delivery and for a pleasant chat. Good Morning David, We are delighted with your picture. We decided to choose a picture instead of buying each other Christmas presents. Andy proposed at the gondola station by the Rialto Bridge in 2004, so the picture will always be special to us. David, I was overwhelmed to receive this commissioned art for Christmas as a present from my mother. It would have been so easy for her to simply frame a photo and I’m so pleased she didn’t. I now have a unique piece of art which not only captures the technical details (like a photo), but also the ‘feeling’ and ‘movement’ which photos never seem to do. I’m very proud of what I have achieved in racing motorcycles but I know that I’ll not be doing it forever. You have captured a part of my life which will forever hang proudly on the wall of my home. I can’t thank you, and my mother, enough!!! Richard |

Original Pencil Drawings. Having been an Oasis fan for many years, I had searched without success for quality drawings of the Gallagher brothers, on finding your website I was ecstatic to say the least to find drawings of excellent quality of both Noel and Liam. I purchased a set of prints at first, then temptation got the better of me and I then purchased the originals. I am delighted with them. I have already used 'hookers green' as a starting base, taking the burden away from mixing and unreliable colours. My picture of Roseberry Topping will be completed on Thursday, I will then have it mounted and will take a digital photograph and forward it. Hello David, How absolutely delighted we are with our paintings! I picked them up from our local post office this morning and went straight to my parents' place, where we opened them together. They are thrilled with their painting, Edale, Derbyshire, and we all feel as though we would like to wander down that beautiful little shade-dappled country lane. I've spent a good part of today quietly gazing at my stormy Westerdale Mood painting, it just takes my breath away. What I love most about it is that it is unmistakably Yorkshire. Each time I look at it I feel as though I am standing on a hilltop in the Dales, with the magnificent views stretching before me. It's the next-best thing to actually being there, so hopefully should sustain me in between visits! Your style of painting is exquisite and I can honestly say that these beautiful paintings will be treasured by us and over time will become family heirlooms. | Private Tuition, Holiday Painting Course. Hi David, First a big thank you for putting up with me for 5 days, I really did learn a lot and I enjoyed it very much. The friends and family I have shown my paintings to so far have not believed I have done them....I told you they wouldn't, didn't I. Since getting home I have dug out all the art stuff I had and I have been busy....observing, I now look at everything and think...mmm now what colours would I mix to get that effect, I have started something with the tools I've got, which aren't very good but never the less I shall finish it and send a copy for your perusal . I've done a few sketches since returning and I think they aren't half bad, slowly but surely I think I'm going get the knack. I've found an art shop in Manchester city centre, so off on Wednesday to buy some paints, a palette and the few brushes I need. It was a great 5 days in spite of it being February, I am looking forward to painting some more really nice pictures. Take care Nell |

Hi I have just bought your dvd, Autumn Fire. I am a real beginner but I want to learn. I own several dvd's but non of them have helped me as much as yours has. Just to be helped with the drawing was a real plus and the well explained part on shading is great. Do you have any other dvd's I can buy and do you have any more planned? Dear David, Thank you so very much for my recent order, the painting entitled "Whose idea was this". I am thrilled to bits with it, so is my other half, as it was a gift for him. I very much appreciate the sturdy packaging which ensured the painting arrived in perfect condition, I was beginning to worry as it didn't arrive until last Friday, and this was due to industrial action locally by Royal Mail. I really like this painting because it "comes alive". You can really feel the movement in the waves and imagine the wisps of spray coming off the water. There always seems to be something new to see in the painting from the rain-filled clouds to the detail of the boat itself. I'm a real fan of David Horne's paintings, but this is my favourite one - it takes pride of place in my sitting room! Mrs K Gordon. |
