Howsham Mill, BBC Roadshow Day. 10th September 2006
Howsham Mill Project, BBC Restoration Village
Howsham Mill Restoration project. Howsham Mill near Malton, North Yorkshire. BBC television Restoration Village programme and my commission drawing was to be used to produce postcards and other merchandise to promote the bid to win the show.

I have to be honest, when I was first contacted to do a commission drawing of Howsham Mill near Malton North Yorkshire I was totally unaware of its existence. I soon learned that this fine old building was one of the contestants in the BBC television Restoration Village programme and my commission was to be used to produce postcards and other merchandise to promote the bid to win the show. So off I went sketch book in hand to discover it for myself. I was amazed to find the building over grown and in disrepair in the middle of quite a dense woodland, It was beautiful, how could such a marvelous piece of British architecture not be preserved for future generations. I had to do my very small part to help. The drawing of the mill on the Commissions page is the result of this trip into the wilderness.
Howsham Mill won the regional heat of the programme and they reached the final, all concerned were delighted. Next a BBC roadshow day was arranged. People from the local area were invited to come down to the mill to experience it for themselves, I was asked if I would play a small part in the proceedings by doing a watercolour demonstration and teaching session, I jumped at the chance, It was a great day for a good cause. Unfortunately Howsham Mill did not win the final, but it will be restored to its former glory and I recommend a visit to this remarkable building. If you go take a sketch book or at least a camera, you will not be disappointed.

Art Exhibition
North Yorkshire Moors, Hutton le Hole, 19th - 23rd August 2006
These are a few photographs from David's first solo exhibition which ended on the 23 August 06 in Hutton-Le-Hole North Yorkshire Moors. We feel this four day showing was a resounding success not only from the viewpoint of sales but also from contacts and commissions made. A collection was made in support of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity over the four days which raised a little over £70, thank you to all who contributed to this worthy cause.
