In art, my first love is pencil drawing but I am at home with any art medium including watercolour, acrylic, oil, coloured pencil, charcoal and many more. Born in the industrial north of England I attended the prestigious Barnsley School of Art in the mid seventies. Since then I've spent time making a living from commission drawing, I've also worked as a freelance sculptor for the souvenir and gift trade, a military model maker and a fine art artist, selling work in England Europe and the USA. Painting courses and step by step dvd's, also painting and drawing mentor tuition is available through this site. I am a qualified art teacher situated in Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire

MY SUBJECTS |
If I were to talk about my pictures the first thing I would say is that they are all very personal to me in some way. My pencil drawings of musicians like Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Paul Weller, Johnny Rotten, Stereophonics, and later the Libertines have given me inspiration from their music. The watercolours are personal for different reasons, Pulpit rock on Portland in Dorset where I spent many happy hours as a child, Roseberry Topping, Hutton le Hole and the Yorkshire landscape, all these places have inspired me and my art, both in fine art pencil drawing and in painting. My pencil drawings of aircraft, the Spitfire, Blenhiem, bf 109 and the Hurricane are leftovers from a childhood of building air-fix kits, what's more important is the deep admiration I will always have for the young men who flew these machines, from which ever nation they came.
